Joy from Project Linus hands over her quilt at Edward House
For several years Project Linus has been making beautiful quilts in all styles and colours and donating them to Edward House to give to some of the families who stay there. Project Linus is a volunteer organisation with over 397 quilting groups (chapters) in the USA, Canada and UK, delivering quilts to many children's organisations. The aim is to provide comfort blankets for children who are seriously ill and going through traumatic times. Last year when Edward House was re-developing its Therapy Room, we asked Joy Edgington from the Birmingham Project Linus Group if she would design and make a quilt for a wall-hanging in the room. She enthusiastically agree!
Joy handed over the beautiful quilt pictured above on April 30th. She entitled the piece "A Trip to Blackpool" as she pictured the design looking out of the train window on a journey to the seaside. On the reverse she has written a poignant thought:
"Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow stitched with love. May your sorrows be patched and your joys be quilted"
Well done Joy - it is fantastic!
Holistic Therapies are offered to House guests at Edward House every Monday and Thursday. Now the peaceful room where those therapies take place is enhanced by this superb hanging quilt.
