Sarah presents Helen Coombs with a cheque for £1,000.00
Sarah Palk and her family have been supporting Edward's Trust for quite some time now. This is what she had to say about this year's concert:
"Well we decided to do it all over again! We chose a different venue which we had to pay for this year but we were really lucky as two local companies sponsored the event and covered the cost of any outgoings! They were TMS Volvo and Hicklin Windows both of Hinckley.
Our two older children Katherine (15) and Matthew (13) were again happy to perform at the event in memory of their brother Christopher. Isobel (3) was very happy with her new 'princess dress' and was looking forward to dancing, which she did for most of the night!
We had some fabulous raffle prizes donated including prizes from Leicester City and Coventry City football clubs.
I was really looking forward to the evening, Katherine has improved so much since last year and I was so much more relaxed about her performance as I was confident she'd be great. Matthew has improved a lot too and it really showed on the night.
Well the concert was a success! It was well worth all the stress and hard work - it was brilliant! Everyone said they had a fantastic evening and really enjoyed themselves. The bands were ace. Katherine was fabulous, the raffle went well. Everything was great.
In October Katherine was invited back to a teen talent contest as a finalist and won!!
It was lovely to have two people from Edward's Trust there too - Helen and Evi. It was wonderful to be able to present a cheque to them for £1,000!!
So far we think the evening raised around £1,100 which is a great amount and hopefully CD sales will bring in even more money - so please buy the CD!!
I felt really nice when I was all dressed up and I got lots of compliments. Katherine looked and sounded amazing - she had three changes of outfits and she looked fab in all of them. Matthew was brilliant on his bass guitar - lots of people said so. All the acts were outstanding. Our Church Youth Band were awesome, as was Katherine's teacher Mark Boast, Article, Brad (Katherine's school friend, Michelle (Katherine's school friend who she sang a duet with). Jane from Mumszone (an online parenting forum who've given us lots of support both emotionally and financially over the last 18 months) sang 'Crazy' and she really rocked!! Even my Dad did a number on his ukelele and he was really good too! The CD is available from the 'support us' page of our website so please buy one - it's an absolute bargain and all the proceeds go to charity and the feedback so far from people who've heard it is 'breathtaking' and 'even better than last years'!
I said that this would be the last one and we wouldn't be doing anymore, but........ we've pencilled in a date at a venue for November 2008!! So watch this space........... "
I can certainly agree - the concert was fantastic - I was there!! You could really feel the atmosphere - great music, great people, all having a thoroughly good time.
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in or supported the event in any way. And if you didn't manage to get there this year, then pencil it in your diaries for next year - you won't be disappointed!
