The Birmingham Law Society

Jeremy Walker receives a cheque from The Birmingham Law Society

We have been privileged to have the support of the Birmingham Law Society through the President's Charity this year. Sukhdev Bhomra kindly chose Edward's Trust as his charity because of what he refers to as the tremendous work done supporting families and children during the devastating time surrounding the death of a child or parent. He is passionate about the need for such support within the city and West Midlands region. Throughout his time as President there have been opportunities at the President's Dinner in the newly refurbished Birmingham Town Hall, the Legal Awards Night at the ICC (with the Master of Ceremonies & Guest Speaker being the journalist / broadcaster John Sergeant), and at the recently held AGM at the Hotel du Vin. Each of these occasions afforded Sukhdev a chance to speak of the need for companies and individuals to help support the work of Edward's Trust.

Together with a longstanding colleague and associate, Makhan Singh of Murria Solicitors, he arranged a training day at the Nishkam Civic Association on Soho Road where a number of very gifted and experienced Judges and Barristers gave expert advice and teaching on matters of advocacy. This day was also used as a fundraiser for Edward's Trust as the course fees were given as donations to the Trust. In total approximately £6,500.00 has been raised during Sukhdev's term in office.

Throughout this time we have had the fantastic logistical back-up of Paul Farrow and his team at the Birmingham Law Society who worked tirelessly to assist Sukhdev and us in achieving such a brilliant result.

A huge thank you is given to everyone who made this possible
