Do You Speak a Second Language?
| previous | back to index | next |
At Edward House we are always on the lookout for people who speak a second language who would be willing to act as supportive translators over the telephone or in the House. There are times when we have people staying who speak little or no English. As you can imagine, this is difficult for all concerned, but especially so when there is an urgent need to pass on important information.
We are hoping to build a list of friends who we could phone when the need arose to act as informal translators. This could take place either over the phone (passing on essential information) or sometimes by a visit the House in order to meet the family for a chat and help them feel at home and cared for.
Most frequently the languages we need help with are German, Italian, Urdu and Ukrainian. But we have also had Cantonese, Greek and Turkish people staying with us.
If you are able to help please send an email or letter the the office of phone Martin White on (0121) 237 5656 for further details.
