Mark and Jo had this to say:

" 'Making it Better - The Daniel Courtney Trust' was set up in memory of our son Daniel Courtney pictured before his tragic deathDaniel, who very sadly lost his battle for life last year following his liver-bowel transplant. One of the aims of our Charity is to raise money to help improve the lives of families at Edward House, where we stayed for many months whilst Daniel was being treated at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Edward House is much more than just a place to stay. The staff gave us so much friendship and support during our stay and continue to do so now. We can't imagine how we would have coped without Edward House and the people there who provided us with a 'home from home' at a very difficult time.

"Edward House has many wonderful facilities, including a playroom (which our son Alex loved!), a comfortable lounge, a games room and fabulous freshly baked cakes every afternoon! But one of the things that we really missed, was having access to the Internet. The Internet is an incredibly powerful tool for many reasons, particularly as a way of staying in touch with family and friends, researching rare medical conditions and just keeping up with day to day news and interests. It is also a brilliant way of building communities of parents going through similar experiences.

"We wanted to thank Edward House for all the help and support they gave to us, by giving something that others could use to help make their stay a bit easier. So we were delighted to be able to give them a cheque for £1,250 to fund their first Internet project.

"We presented the 'larger than life' cheque to Jeremy Walker at Edward House and the press were there to capture the moment! (We were featured in the Birmingham Mail on 9th February). Also donated on the day were a computer with monitor, printer and scanner to help those families who do not have access to a computer whilst at Edward House. Thanks to Guy and Alma Williams for their incredible generosity."
