Boxing Day Madness!

As told by Chris Dent:

"On Boxing Day we headed to Tenby, a small town with some beautiful beaches and scenery, for the 'Boxing Day Swim'. The whole family were present with cameras and warm clothing. We were amongst about 200 crazy fools willing to venture into the murky (and violent) depths of the sea, dressed appropriately as heroes or villains on such a cold and windy morning.

"As 11am approached we dropped out of our dressing gowns (and many other layers) and put on our costumes. Gemma was a Cowgirl and I was Pocahontas with a tennis ball bra! As we huddled together, we tried to avoid thinking about the task ahead and enjoyed the taunts from family and members of the public.

"When the countdown began, the adrenalin flowed as everyone screamed and charged towards the water. By the time we got to the water's edge many were retreating after only a few steps in. With our lungs screaming out loud we trudged on further until we were knocked over by an opportunistic wave. At this point we didn't feel the cold but wanted more punishment, so stayed in for a further minute or so diving around looking for my grass skirt.

"The ascent was slow as we were exhausted and the burning sensation of 'deep heat' began to set in. Towels awaited us along with many more snaps from the family, but the huge bonfire helped to warm us up along with coffee and soup.

"All in all it was a worthwhile experience, as the money raised was for Edward's Trust."

Many thanks to both of you for a marvellous effort!
