A birthday party with a 'twist'

 

Alison Bandurak really went to 'tinsel' town to celebrate her 50th birthday, this is what she had to say:

 

"With a big 50th birthday approaching and plans to in place to get family and friends together for a celebration party, I thought a Hollywood theme would add to the fun. When guests began to ask what I (aka Marilyn Munroe) would like as a gift, I struggled to think what I really needed and that's how the idea of donations to a charity came to my mind.

 

Family friends Nick and Sue Rowbotham continue to raise money for Edward's Trust in memory of their son Jacob and I thought it was a great chance to support them.

 

Helen at the Trust, kindly helped out with printing slips to go inside my party invites, explaining that instead of a gift I would welcome a donation. We also popped in envelopes so that donations would be private.

 

On the night of the party, Jeremy Walker came along and spoke with great passion about the diversity of the work within the Trust. Many people have since mentioned how moved they were by his words.

 

I was staggered that an amazing £1526.33p was received! As well as this, a few people have mentioned that they will follow suit and support a charity in the same way for future celebrations."

 

Alison, you are not the only one who was 'staggered' by the amount of money raised! We cannot thank you, your family and your friends enough for your fantastic support and sincerely hope that one and all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
